This variety is a workhorse. I roasted one squash and had enough for soup, muffins, and a casserole. It freezes well and tastes even better after a frost.
Planted these late but still got two 15-pounders. They did best with compost-rich soil and plenty of sun. The flavor was mild and slightly nutty—excellent roasted with herbs.
The pinkish-orange color is eye-catching, and the vines were incredibly productive. We got 4 large squashes from 2 plants. They cooked up buttery and flavorful.
We grew these in the backyard with the kids, and they were fascinated by how big they got! Harvested in late summer and made some delicious squash bread with the first one.
These store incredibly well—we were still eating them in January. The texture is dense and great for purees, soups, and even pie. The pink color is really pretty, too!
