I wanted to add more native trees to my property, and catalpa was a great pick. The seeds did well after a brief soak, and now I’ve got a row of young trees started. Planning to transplant them this fall.
I planted Northern Catalpa with long-term shade in mind. The early growth has been strong and steady. Can’t wait to see the blooms—they remind me of orchids. A great project if you’ve got space and patience.
These seedlings shot up faster than I expected. The huge, heart-shaped leaves are already putting on a show. I know it’ll be a few years before I get flowers, but so far it’s a very satisfying grow.
The seeds arrived fresh and viable. I started them indoors and had a strong batch of sprouts within three weeks. They’re growing into sturdy little trees, and I’m excited to eventually plant them out back.
