I planted these in a dry, sunny spot and they handled the heat better than expected. Got several full-sized melons that ripened evenly. The kids loved the smooth texture and mild taste.
If you’re used to watermelon or cantaloupe, Casaba is a little different—less sweet, more nuanced. I really like the texture and how well it holds up once cut. It’s a great change of pace.
These melons are so underrated! The skin is thick and tough, which makes them last a while, but the inside is soft and creamy with a rich, melon flavor. Will definitely grow again.
I’d never tried Casaba before, but these seeds had great germination, and the plants needed minimal fuss. Just sunshine and compost, and they delivered! Flavor is subtle and elegant.
Grew these in my raised bed and got 5 large melons per plant. The texture is smooth and dense, not watery like some melons. We used them in fruit salads and even chilled soups.
